When coming to the lesson on the 26th of October, we realised that a lot of our footage was not so good because it was very shaky due to the camera movement (several tracking shots). When we showed it to our teacher Marisa she agreed that we had to reshoot.
In this video sample, you can see that not only it is shaky as it also does not look like Nimar is walking at all, it looks like he is swinging from one side to the other.
As we had booked the camera for the first slot of half term, we planned to reshoot the shots that didn't work on the 31st of October, but this time we would book the Steadicam, which Tavo already knows how to use and it would help to make the footage more steady. We filmed the whole day from 9 am until it got dark, and we also took the opportunity to try some new shots. We do not have many pictures of this day because we didn't book the still camera.
The use of Steadicam did make a difference in our footage, as you can see in the sample below how it looks more steady than the sample above:
In this sample we were trying to create a shot in which we could use slow motion while Nimar sings but the lips would sync with the normal pace of the song, therefore he had to sing faster than usual. We thought the leaves in slow motion could look good, but this shot never worked in the several times we tried, it didn't look very natural and the wind was blowing in a different direction than the direction we needed. We notice that there is another problem with the wind, although the shots look more steady because of the steadicam, there is still some shaking. However this is a different shake and we assume it seems like it was caused by the wind. We will try to work with that in the editing process. In the following sample, we filmed in a more closed place (tunnel) where there wasn't a lot of wind and the footage doesn't have too much of this same kind of shake.
