Ancillary: analysis of 3 digipaks of indie pop genre

We decided our artists Ed Sheeran genre will be indie pop

Here i am going to talk about 3 digipaks made relating to the genre

First is the script "Science and Faith"

.

Visual : The front cover on the left is very simple but very Symbolistic. You can first see there in a big font which suits the cover the name of the band The script. Then below in small writing the name of the album. The name i do the agree with because the font is very small, it should have been more larger so it could be read more easily.  The digipak front and back shows two hands together which could be there to try portray a message. It raises the contentious issue of Science and Religion clashing, Hence the title Science and Faith

Colours: The colours used on both the front and back of the Digipak are both reasonably simplistic but very effective. the font stands out very well with the background colour. The back cover displays the tracks in a simple font and displays the barcode and company name.  There is really only two colours presented which is black and brown which have worked very well with eachother.

Flourence the Machine "Lungs"

Visual: See the artist straight away with a scence from one of her music videos. this gives an insight of who she is and how her music is. it also is important for her to be on the front cover because she sells her music with her image.  The font font used forher name represents how different her music is.it relates wel to the rest of the front cover and fits in with the flowers and florence herself. You can see an image of lungs which relates to the title of the digipak/album. The name of the cover is big so it can be seen.

Colour:  There is an black outline, it gives us a sense of how her music might be like as black is often symbolised as dark, sad and mysterious colour. The backround also links with the artist music of fantasy and mystery as it is a set of a forest. the black outline makes her name stand out as the font of her name is in white

Visual and Color: the back also has a picture of the lungs linking to the name. The lung is all white and is covered with a black backroung making it stand out. The tracks are displayed on the back but it is in a small font which makes it hard to read. also that they arew not space out properly. There is an barcode diplayed andd her website which is a good use of advertisment. Overall the back is very simple but a bit too plain.

In the inside it is a picture of the artist and the Cd with again but this time a  colour picture of the lungs on it

Duffy "Rock Ferry"

Visual and colour: For the front and back the colour is simple its black and white this gives a sence of old fashion or rememberance. The fonts are well picked. her name is in a designy font which is reoccuring in all her Digipak covers which is very well thought of. The name of the album Rock Ferry is in a big font which is white which stands out on the greyish/black backround. She has an mid shot image of her in a car which could represent her travelling. the back cover is also plain and simple with the names of the track in white which stands out on the black backround. unlike the other two digipaks the fonts are big and more readable.
