Planning ANCILLARY - Overview of the 'Do's' and 'Don'ts'
Earlier on in the lesson, I came across conventions that
will help me construct my own digipak cover and a magazine advert. By
using these suggestions, this will allow me to produce a successful ancillary
product.
- Use clear
font & photos that are in focus
- Use appropriate
sizes for font & images
- Follow the rule of thirds for
composition
- Be
careful where I place the font
- MUST follow genre conventions and
be clear for the audience
- Use the 3
colour rule and choose the colour that is appropriate for the images, font
and background.
- Think carefully about how you use and integrate font, text, language and image. (Remember
that placement of text next to an image will anchor specific meaning)
- Use appropriate
industry logos & conventions, properly position (barcode, date, copyright, titles & artist name)
- Stretch
images, this will make them out of focus
- Use unnecessary
effects. Any effects used MUST suit the genre
- Place text
across the artists face
- Use a font simply because you ‘like it’
