It is important to notice that the conventions of graphic style vary with the genre, but these are the main conventions of print advertisement for release albums. The reason why they are conventional is quite obvious, if you want to sell the artist it is ideal to have his image and name used in the ancillary product. In the advert for the album it is also informative to have the release date and the name of the album to sell the artist, or tour dates, and if the single is popular it might be catchy to have the single name, everything that helps to promote. It is important to pass this information across as clearly as possible, avoiding overly busy adverts/digipaks or fancy fonts, difficult colours, etc, since it negatively interferes with the main purpose of promotion and it might be unpleasant for the audience who might find it unattractive. By using the same graphic style of the digipak, it creates visual link between the products, which becomes a form of synergy and it familiarises the artist's image to the audience. The ancillary products are important because they promote the artist. It is a way of connecting and reaching the fans, and selling the label, which leads to the main purpose of the artist and the music industry: getting revenue.
